Triple Seven (777) Yacht in Maalaea Bay Today

Yesterday, one of the most luxurious motor yachts in the world floated into and anchored in Maalaea Bay, where she attracted a number of curious onlookers and photographers. The yacht was sparkling clean from the outside and looked like it just came out of the factory. It didn’t have a single salty or dirty spot on it. It was glittering in the sunshine.

For those of you who are curious about the yacht and who owns it, here is some info.

The Triple Seven (777) yacht was built in Germany in 2006 by the Nobiskrug yard in Rendsburg. She it called Triple Seven because Germans consider this a lucky number. The yacht is 66.7 meters long and can accommodate up to 12 guests, who are being looked after by a crew of 18. She has a range of 5,000 miles and cruises at 15 knots. The Triple Seven is a charter yacht and is currently managed by Watkins Yacht Management of London, UK. She flies the Bermuda flag, is registered at Hamilton and is in operation worldwide.

With so many celebrities on Maui shooting the movie…it’s widely speculated that it’s Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler, Nicole Kidman on board.

My friend has her spotting scope on her lanai watching as the crew prepares for something exciting. Looks like a party on the yacht tonight!

When you think about it….what a great way for the celebrities to relax and not have the paparazzi all over the place or be bothered with fans asking for autographs.

Sleepy, quiet little Maalaea. Where the movie stars hang out on yachts….in the middle of the bay.

The Whales are starting to arrive!!!!

The first reported sighting of whales (Humpbacks..for those of you who are learning about Hawaii).

Every year…I write down when I ….as in me personally…..see my first whale. Last year..it was on Christmas Day. So stay tuned…because when I see my first whale….I will be blogging it here….

They migrate from Alaska…spend the winter all around the Hawaiian Islands…..and have their babies. It’s sort of like they are on vacation too. (well…except…I’ve never given birth while on vacation)…but, they do.

Their numbers will increase gradually between now and the first of the year. The highest number of whales will be here the months of January and February and then gradually start to decrease the months of March and April. Usually, by mid May…they are pretty much all gone.

We are running specials for the oceanview condos from now until December 15th. $1,000 per week everything included (tax-cleaning-etc).

We still have a few spots open for Christmas…if anyone wants to spend the holidays on Maui!

Well well….imagine this….our very first blog. How exciting huh? I hope you will bookmark us and follow along.

The picture at the top is just a stock photo on WordPress. It may or may not be one of the islands….but, I am on the FREE blog section of WordPress for now, so it’s the closest thing I could find.

So, I guess a blog is sort of “anything goes”. I wanted this one to be about island life and all that it means to live or visit on a rock out in the middle of—–basically—–nowhere. Don’t quote me on stats, but it’s something like 2,500 miles to the West Coast (mainland U.S.) and it’s about 2,800 miles to Japan. That makes it “the middle of nowhere” to me.

For those of you that travel to the island on a regular basis….this gives you a chance to get a regular dose of island flavor while you are on the mainland.

For those of you who have never been here…..what the heck are you waiting for????…you have no idea what you are missing!

There will be lots of information and I think it will be fun.

And yes, I will shamelessly be promoting the vacation rentals, special rates etc. so be sure and bookmark this blog!
